Walter E. Williams

One of my favorite writers is Walter E. Williams. Dr. Williams serves on the faculty of George Mason University as John M. Olin Distinguished Professor of Economics1 and is a prolific writer. He also possesses many libertarian views, and as I read his columns, I frequently say to myself: “I wish I had written that.” He has the ability to cut through the smoke and mirrors to distill the most complex problems down to basic truths. His current column, “Moral or Immoral Government” is a perfect example. Dr. Williams’ column describes a natural law that was a key basis for our country’s former greatness. I would guess that less than 5% of the U. S. population now understand it. If a majority did and acted upon it, my opinion is that we could totally solve all our current fiscal and social problems and restore our federal government back to its founders’ intent and our country back to its former greatness.
